How to Place an Order
There are two ways to place orders on SearchEye: through Sofia (automated strategy) or directly through the Marketplace. This article covers placing an order manually through the Marketplace.
Before You Start
Make sure you have:
At least one brand (domain) added to your account
Sufficient credits or a payment method on file to complete the order when the publisher approves
Your current credit balance is displayed in the top navigation bar.
Step 1: Go to the Marketplace
From your Brand Dashboard, click Marketplace in the top navigation bar.
The Marketplace opens to Entire Inventory by default, showing all available publications ranked by relevance to your brand.
You can switch to Exclusive Pricing to browse publications with pre-negotiated rates available only through SearchEye.
Step 2: Filter and Find the Right Publication
The filter panel on the left helps narrow down publications to the ones most relevant to your goals. SearchEye automatically hides publications that aren't a good fit for your brand.
Available filters:
My List — toggle between your Saved and Hidden publications
Exclude Owned Placements — hides publications where SearchEye has already detected your brand
Show Competitor Placements — surfaces only publications that have linked to your competitors but not to you
Get Mentioned by AI — filters for publications cited by AI models like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity (requires AthenaHQ or DemandSphere integration)
Price Range — set a minimum and maximum budget per placement
Domain Range — filter by Domain Rating (DR 0–100)
Organic Traffic — set a minimum monthly traffic threshold
Traffic Trend — filter by upward, flat, or downward trending traffic
Quality Score — filter by SearchEye's internal quality rating
Article Type — Existing Article, New Article, or both
Categories — filter by publication topic or industry
Locations — filter by publication's country or region
Estimated Publishing Time — filter by how quickly a publication typically publishes
Type of Business — filter by business type
Supported Content — filter by the content formats a publication accepts
Follow Type — filter by link follow type
Not sure which filters to use? Click Recommend filters at the bottom of the panel and SearchEye will suggest the optimal configuration based on your brand and goals.
Sorting Options
Use the Sort by dropdown in the top right to sort results by Relevance, Domain Rating (High), Traffic (High), Price (Low), Price (High), or Recently Added.
Step 3: Select a Publication
Each publication card displays the domain name, DR, monthly traffic, relevance score, a brief description, location and industry tags, and the starting price for a placement.
Click Sample to preview the publication's content style
Click Generate Strategy to get an AI-generated placement strategy — keyword, URL, article angle, and pitch rationale — before committing
Click the + button on the right side of the card when you're ready to place an order
Step 4: Customize Your Collaboration Request
A Customize your collaboration request modal will open, showing the selected publication's details including DR, traffic, typical publishing time, and pricing.
Choose Your Media Type
New Article — the publisher writes a brand new piece of content featuring your brand
Update Existing Article — your brand is inserted into an article that is already published and ranking
Pricing may differ between the two options. Review the displayed price for each before selecting.
Choose Your Brand Integration Type
Select how your brand will appear in the article:
Link — a link to a relevant page on your website is added to the article
Expert Quote — a quote from your team is added to the article as an expert source
Brand Mention — a strategic reference to your brand is embedded within the article
Each option displays its price and link follow type. You can only select one integration type per order. To place additional orders with different integration types for the same publication, submit separate requests.
Step 5: Configure Your Pitch
Choose how SearchEye should handle the anchor text and page targeting:
Let SearchEye recommend — SearchEye's team selects the most optimal anchor text and target page for you
Fully customize my link — enter the specific brand URL you want to promote and the keyword you want to target. Both fields will auto-populate if a matching keyword is found in your account.
Additional Options (Optional)
Approve content before publishing? — toggled on by default. When enabled, you will receive the article content for review before it goes live. It is recommended to keep this on.
Have Lexicon write this article — if you have Lexicon connected under Integrations, toggle this on to have Lexicon write the content. Applied per order, never on by default.
Additional notes — add any specific instructions or context for your order: tone, topics to avoid, key messages to include, or any other details relevant to your placement.
Step 6: Send Your Request
Once you have completed all selections, click Send Request.
When the publisher approves your request, SearchEye will place the order and charge your payment method automatically.
After You Send the Request
You can track all your orders under Brand Orders in the top navigation bar.
What Happens After the Publisher Approves
Your order will appear under the Approved Offers tab in Brand Orders.
If you have the Auto place order if approved toggle enabled and sufficient credits available, the order is placed automatically — no action needed from you.
If the toggle is off or if you do not have enough credits, the status will show Payment Pending. Click Pay Now to complete the order manually.
